| BDSF's MSME Project churns out 2,081 full jobs | |||||||||||
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Project managed by Business Development Services Fund aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of small and medium enterprises to shore up employment and reduce poverty has chalked some results, generating 2,081 fulltime jobs since the project began in May 2007. This figure is expected to increase by 75% to 3,658 by the end of 2010, thus rekindling the hope that bolstering MSMEs would be key to giving Ghana’s overall economy a lift. |

Dubbed; the Ghana MSME Project, the World Bank funded scheme aims at enhancing the competitiveness of MSMEs through access to finance,markets and entrepreneurial development. This idea is premised on the fact that although MSMEs provide the bulk of employment in Ghana, they are, nonetheless, saddled with myriad of institutional and structural difficulties that hinder their efficiency. | Workshop for Associations and Business Membership Organizations | |||||||||||
The official launch and opening of the Northern regional Office of the BDS Project took place on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the BIGIZA Hotel Tamale. The launch also coincided with the opening of the Northern Regional Office located within the Sabon Kudi Estates, Tamale off Tamale-Yendi Road. The office will serve the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions of Ghana. The general public was invited for the launch which was chaired by Dr. A. B. Zakariah of UDS, Tamale. Read More >> |
As part of the BDS team’s commitment to ensuring that the objectives of the BDS Project are realized, a two day workshop was organized for the heads of Associations and Business Membership Organizations on the 26th and 27th of November, 2008. The aim of the workshop was to discuss the problems facing the Associations and BMO’s and to develop projects which will be funded under the BDS Fund aimed at addressing these problems.
