The agreement brings to US$ 12 million the total U.S commitment to BUSAC II; DANIDA has already committed US$ 8 million in support of the second phase of BUSAC, which started in 2010.
Under the agreement, private Ghanaian small and medium businesses will benefit from grants and will receive support from businesses service providers in preparing and implementing advocacy actions.
USAID’S contribution is in line with the U.S Government’s Feed the Future Initiative, which seeks to improve food security in Ghana. USAID expects that small and medium farm-based organizations will take advantage of opportunities under the BUSAC Fund to address the legal and regulatory issues that affect food security and business, increasing farm productivity and improving nutrition.
The BUSAC Fund is a grant initiated by DANIDA’S Support to Private Sector Development (SPSD II) which seeks to assist the Ghanaian private sector to advocate locate, regional and national authorities to create the appropriate enabling business environment for a profitable and competitive private sector
